How to Cancel Kindle Unlimited Subscription | किंडल अनलिमिटेड सब्सक्रिप्शन कैसे रद्द करें

Kindle Unlimited is Amazon's e-book subscription service that gives you unlimited access to over 4 million titles, including books, magazines, and audiobooks. This comprehensive guide covers all methods to cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription across different devices and platforms, whether you subscribed directly through Amazon, the Kindle app, or a third-party app store.

Key Information: Canceling Kindle Unlimited stops future charges but you retain full access to all borrowed books and titles until the current billing period ends. Any books currently borrowed through Kindle Unlimited will be removed from your device after your subscription expires. Your reading progress, highlights, and notes are saved in your Amazon account even after cancellation.

1. Canceling via Amazon Website

The most reliable and recommended method to cancel Kindle Unlimited directly through the Amazon website:

  1. Visit www.amazon.in (or www.amazon.com) and sign in to your account
  2. Hover over Account & Lists in the top-right corner
  3. Click Your Account
  4. Scroll down and select Memberships & Subscriptions
  5. Find Kindle Unlimited and click Manage Subscription
  6. Select Cancel Kindle Unlimited Membership
  7. Follow the on-screen confirmation prompts to complete cancellation

Note: After canceling, Amazon will display the exact date until which you have access to Kindle Unlimited. A confirmation email will be sent to your registered Amazon email address immediately after cancellation.

2. Canceling via Kindle App (Mobile)

To cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription through the Kindle mobile app on Android or iOS:

  1. Open the Kindle app on your smartphone or tablet
  2. Tap the Menu Icon (three lines) or your Profile Icon
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Select Kindle Unlimited or Manage Membership
  5. You will be redirected to the Amazon website — sign in if prompted
  6. Follow the website cancellation steps listed above

Note: If you subscribed through Google Play Store or Apple App Store, the Kindle app will redirect you to the respective platform for cancellation. Refer to the relevant sections below for those platforms.

3. Canceling via Kindle E-Reader Device

You can initiate cancellation directly from your Kindle e-reader device:

  1. On your Kindle device, tap the Menu Icon (three dots) from the home screen

  3. Tap Your Account
  4. Select Kindle Unlimited
  5. Tap Manage Membership — this will open the Amazon website in the Kindle browser
  6. Follow the website cancellation steps to complete the process

4. Canceling via Google Play Store (Android)

For Kindle Unlimited subscriptions originally purchased through Google Play on Android devices:

  • Reading Data: Your reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and notes are saved in your Amazon account even after cancellation
  • Kindle Unlimited Plans (India): Monthly Plan (₹169/month), Annual Plan (₹1,499/year — saves approx. ₹529 vs monthly)
  • Access: Full access to all Kindle Unlimited titles is retained until the end of the current billing cycle
  • Verification: Always check your registered email for a cancellation confirmation from Amazon after completing the process
  • Reactivation: You can reactivate Kindle Unlimited at any time and all your reading history and preferences will be restored

Troubleshooting

If You Can't Find Kindle Unlimited in Subscriptions:

  • Ensure you are signed in with the correct Amazon account that was used to subscribe
  • Check if the subscription was purchased through Google Play Store or Apple App Store instead of Amazon directly
  • Try accessing Memberships & Subscriptions from a desktop browser for better visibility
  • Contact Amazon Customer Support if the subscription is still not visible

If Charges Continue After Cancellation:

  • Verify cancellation status under Memberships & Subscriptions in your Amazon account
  • Check if there is a separate Kindle Unlimited subscription linked to a different Amazon account
  • Review your Amazon Pay balance and linked autopay mandates
  • Contact Amazon Customer Support and raise a billing dispute immediately

If the Cancel Option is Not Visible or Grayed Out:

  • Try accessing the cancellation page from a desktop browser instead of the mobile app or Kindle device
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies and reload the Amazon account page
  • Disable any VPN, browser extensions, or pop-up blockers that may interfere with the page
  • Contact Amazon Customer Support for manual cancellation assistance

If Kindle Unlimited Books Disappeared Before Billing Period Ends:

  • Sign out and sign back into your Amazon account on the Kindle app or device
  • Check your internet connection and sync your Kindle library
  • Verify your subscription end date in Memberships & Subscriptions
  • Contact Amazon Support if books are missing before the stated expiry date

Alternatives to Canceling

  • Switch to Annual Plan: If you are on a monthly plan, switching to the Annual Plan (₹1,499/year) saves you approximately ₹529 compared to paying monthly
  • Use Kindle Owners' Lending Library: If you own a Kindle device and have Amazon Prime, you can borrow one free book per month from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library at no extra cost
  • Purchase Individual Titles: Buy only the books you want to read instead of maintaining a subscription — a good option if you read fewer than 2-3 books per month
  • Amazon Prime Reading: If you have Amazon Prime, Prime Reading gives you free access to a rotating selection of over 1,000 books and magazines at no additional charge
  • Pause and Resume: If you need a temporary break, cancel now and resubscribe later — your reading history and preferences will be fully restored

Before canceling, consider switching to Amazon Prime Reading if you already have an active Prime membership. It provides free access to over 1,000 rotating titles including books, comics, and magazines — at no additional cost — and may sufficiently meet your reading needs without a separate Kindle Unlimited subscription.
