How to Cancel YouTube Channel Membership | यूट्यूब चैनल मेंबरशिप कैसे रद्द करें

YouTube Channel Memberships allow viewers to support their favorite creators by paying a monthly fee in exchange for exclusive perks such as custom badges, emojis, members-only posts, live streams, and special community content. If you no longer wish to support a particular channel, want to manage your monthly spending, or are simply not receiving enough value from a membership, this comprehensive guide covers all methods to cancel your YouTube Channel Membership — whether you subscribed through the YouTube website, YouTube mobile app, Google Play Store, or Apple App Store.

Key Information: Canceling a YouTube Channel Membership stops future billing but allows you to retain all membership perks — including exclusive badges, emojis, and access to members-only content — until the end of your current billing cycle. After the cycle ends, your custom member badge is removed from comments and live chats, and access to members-only posts and videos is revoked. You can cancel and rejoin a channel membership at any time.

1. Understanding YouTube Channel Memberships

Before canceling, it is important to understand how YouTube Channel Memberships work:

  1. Channel Memberships are set up and managed individually by each YouTube creator — perks, pricing, and membership tiers vary by channel
  2. Memberships are billed on a monthly recurring basis — the billing date is the same day each month as when you originally joined
  3. Most channels offer memberships starting from approximately ₹89 to ₹169 per month in India — some popular channels may offer multiple tiers at different price points
  4. Canceling one channel membership does not affect memberships you may have with other YouTube channels — each membership is managed separately
  5. YouTube Channel Memberships are completely separate from YouTube Premium — canceling a channel membership does not affect your YouTube Premium subscription

Note: You can view and manage all your active YouTube Channel Memberships in one place by visiting youtube.com/paid_memberships — this page lists every channel you are currently a member of along with the next billing date and monthly amount for each.

2. Canceling via YouTube Website on Desktop (Primary Method)

The most straightforward way to cancel a YouTube Channel Membership from a computer:

  1. Visit www.youtube.com and sign in with your Google account
  2. Click your profile picture at the top-right corner of the YouTube homepage
  3. Click Purchases and Memberships from the dropdown menu
  4. You will see a list of all your active channel memberships — find the channel membership you want to cancel
  5. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the membership or click Manage Membership
  6. Select Cancel Membership from the options
  7. Review the cancellation details shown — including the date your membership perks will end
  8. Click Cancel Membership again to confirm and complete the cancellation
  9. You will receive a confirmation email from YouTube at your registered Google account email address

Note: Alternatively, you can cancel directly from the channel's page — go to the channel, click the Join button (which shows your membership status), and select Manage MembershipCancel Membership from there.

3. Canceling via YouTube Mobile App (Android & iOS)

To cancel a YouTube Channel Membership directly from the YouTube app on your phone:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your Android or iOS device and sign in
  2. Tap your profile picture at the top-right corner of the app
  3. Tap Purchases and Memberships from the account menu
  4. Tap Memberships to view all your active channel memberships
  5. Find the channel membership you want to cancel and tap on it
  6. Tap Manage Membership → then tap Cancel Membership
  7. Review the cancellation information and tap Cancel Membership again to confirm
  8. A confirmation notification will appear and a confirmation email will be sent to your Google account

Critical: If you subscribed to a YouTube Channel Membership through the Apple App Store on an iPhone or iPad, you cannot cancel it through the YouTube app or website. Apple manages the billing for iOS in-app purchases — you must cancel through iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions instead. See Section 5 below for the complete iOS cancellation steps.

4. Canceling via Google Play Store (Android)

If your YouTube Channel Membership billing is managed through the Google Play Store:

  1. Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device
  2. Tap your profile picture at the top-right corner
  3. Tap Payments & Subscriptions → then tap Subscriptions
  4. Find the relevant YouTube Channel Membership from the list of active subscriptions
  5. Tap on it to open the subscription details page
  6. Tap Cancel Subscription and select a cancellation reason
  7. Tap Continue → then tap Cancel Subscription to confirm

To Cancel Google Pay UPI Autopay Mandate:

  1. Open the Google Pay app on your Android device
  2. Tap your profile pictureManage Google AccountPayments tab
  3. Tap Manage Autopay to view all active UPI autopay mandates
  4. Find the YouTube or Google Play mandate from the list
  5. Tap on it and select Cancel Autopay to remove the UPI mandate
  6. Confirm the cancellation — you will receive an SMS from your bank acknowledging the mandate removal

5. Canceling via Apple App Store (iOS)

If you subscribed to a YouTube Channel Membership through your iPhone or iPad via the App Store:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Tap your Apple ID name at the very top of the Settings screen
  3. Tap Subscriptions to view all active subscriptions linked to your Apple ID
  4. Find the relevant YouTube Channel Membership from the subscriptions list — it may appear under the channel name or as a YouTube subscription
  5. Tap on it to open the subscription details
  6. Tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom and tap Confirm when prompted
  7. A confirmation message will show the date your membership perks will end

Note: On iOS, each YouTube Channel Membership you subscribed to through the App Store will appear as a separate entry under your Apple Subscriptions list. If you have memberships with multiple YouTube channels, you must cancel each one individually from the iOS Subscriptions page.

6. Canceling Multiple Channel Memberships at Once

If you are subscribed to multiple YouTube Channel Memberships and want to cancel all of them:

  1. Visit youtube.com/paid_memberships on a desktop browser — this page shows all active memberships in one place
  2. For each membership listed, click the three-dot menu (⋮) or Manage Membership
  3. Select Cancel Membership and confirm for each channel individually
  4. Repeat the process for every channel membership you wish to cancel
  5. Verify all cancellations are reflected on the paid memberships page after completing each one

Note: YouTube does not currently offer a bulk cancel option for multiple channel memberships — each membership must be canceled individually. The youtube.com/paid_memberships page is the most efficient place to manage and cancel all your memberships from a single location.

7. Canceling Bank-Linked Autopay or Standing Instructions

If YouTube Channel Membership charges continue even after canceling through YouTube or the app stores:

  1. Log in to your bank's internet banking portal or mobile banking app
  2. Navigate to Standing Instructions or Auto-Debit Mandates section
  3. Search for and locate the YouTube or Google payment mandate
  4. Cancel or revoke the mandate immediately through your banking portal
  5. Contact your bank's customer support helpline if the mandate cannot be located or removed online
  6. Raise a charge dispute with your bank citing your YouTube membership cancellation confirmation email as proof

8. What Happens After Canceling a Channel Membership

Understanding what changes after cancellation helps you plan the right time to cancel:

  1. Perks remain active: All membership perks — badges, emojis, and members-only content access — continue until the end of your current billing cycle
  2. Badge removed from comments: Your custom member loyalty badge disappears from comments, live chats, and community posts after the billing cycle ends
  3. Members-only content locked: Access to members-only videos, posts, live streams, and community content is revoked after the billing period concludes
  4. Loyalty streak reset: Your membership loyalty duration counter resets to zero — if you rejoin later, your streak restarts from the beginning
  5. Public comments unaffected: Any comments or replies you posted on the channel remain visible — canceling a membership does not delete your comments
  6. Rejoining allowed: You can rejoin the same channel's membership at any time — there is no waiting period or penalty for canceling and rejoining

Critical: If a channel offers tiered memberships (multiple levels at different price points), canceling your current tier and rejoining at a lower tier will reset your loyalty streak. If maintaining your loyalty badge level is important to you, consider whether downgrading tiers or pausing is a better option than fully canceling.

9. Requesting a Refund for a YouTube Channel Membership

If you were charged unexpectedly or want to request a refund after cancellation:

  1. Visit YouTube's membership refund request page or go to support.google.com/youtube
  2. Sign in with your Google account and find the membership charge you want to dispute
  3. Click Report a Problem or Request a Refund next to the relevant charge
  4. Select the appropriate reason — such as I was charged but did not intend to join or Membership renewed unexpectedly
  5. Submit your refund request — YouTube and Google typically review and respond within 3 to 5 business days
  6. Approved refunds are credited back to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days

Note: YouTube Channel Membership refunds are evaluated individually and are not guaranteed. Refunds are more commonly approved for accidental memberships, duplicate charges, or situations where you were charged immediately after a free trial period ended without prior notification.

Important Notes

  • Perks Until Cycle Ends: All membership perks remain active until the last day of your current billing period — there is no immediate loss of access upon cancellation
  • Loyalty Streak Resets: Canceling a membership resets your loyalty duration counter to zero — rejoining restarts the streak from the beginning
  • Each Membership Separate: Canceling one channel membership does not affect any other channel memberships you have — each must be managed and canceled individually
  • YouTube Premium Unaffected: Canceling a channel membership has absolutely no impact on your YouTube Premium subscription — they are completely independent services
  • No Partial Refunds: YouTube does not automatically issue prorated refunds for unused days in the billing cycle — use the refund request process for disputes
  • Comments Remain: All your comments and interactions on the channel remain visible after cancellation — your past engagement is not deleted
  • India Pricing: YouTube Channel Membership prices are set by individual creators — most memberships in India range from approximately ₹89 to ₹169 per month for entry-level tiers, with higher tiers priced at the creator's discretion
  • Verification: Always check for a cancellation confirmation email from YouTube and verify membership status at youtube.com/paid_memberships

Troubleshooting

If You Cannot Find the Cancel Membership Option on YouTube Website:

  • Check if you subscribed through the Apple App Store on an iPhone — iOS memberships must be canceled through iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, not through YouTube
  • Ensure you are signed in to the correct Google account that joined the channel membership — you may have multiple Google accounts
  • Try visiting youtube.com/paid_memberships directly — this page lists all memberships and provides direct management options
  • Try accessing YouTube from a desktop browser rather than the mobile app if the cancel option is not visible in the app

If Membership Charges Continue After Cancellation:

  • Verify the cancellation was successful by checking youtube.com/paid_memberships — a canceled membership will show an end date instead of a renewal date
  • Check if you have the same channel membership under a different Google account — log into other Google accounts and check their memberships
  • Check for active UPI autopay mandates in Google Pay → Manage Autopay and cancel the YouTube mandate if still active
  • Contact YouTube Support with your cancellation confirmation email and dispute the unexpected charge through Google's refund process

If Membership Perks Are Not Showing Even Though Membership Is Active:

  • Sign out of the YouTube app completely and sign back in — membership entitlements sometimes take a few minutes to sync after joining or renewing
  • Check that you are signed in with the same Google account that holds the active membership
  • Force close the YouTube app and reopen it — the membership badge and perks should appear in comments and live chats after a refresh
  • Contact YouTube Support if perks are still missing after 24 hours of an active paid membership

If the Channel No Longer Offers Memberships:

  • Creators can disable or remove the membership feature from their channel at any time
  • If a channel removes memberships, existing members are automatically refunded for the remaining days of their current billing cycle by YouTube
  • You will receive an email notification from YouTube if a channel you are a member of removes the membership feature

Alternatives to Canceling a YouTube Channel Membership

  • Downgrade to a Lower Tier: If a channel offers multiple membership tiers, switch to a cheaper lower tier instead of canceling entirely — you retain some perks at a reduced monthly cost
  • Support Through Super Thanks: Cancel the monthly membership and instead make occasional one-time Super Thanks donations to support the creator only when you feel they deserve it — no recurring billing involved
  • Use Super Chat During Live Streams: Replace the monthly membership with occasional Super Chat payments during live streams — a flexible, non-recurring way to support and get noticed by the creator
  • Watch for Free Trial Offers: Some channels periodically offer free trial memberships — cancel your current paid membership and wait for a promotional trial to rejoin at no cost
  • Gifted Memberships: Community members sometimes gift memberships to viewers during live streams — staying active in the community may earn you a gifted membership without any monthly cost
  • Engage for Free: Continue supporting the creator for free by liking, commenting, sharing their videos, and watching ads — creators earn revenue from ad views without any cost to you

Before canceling a YouTube Channel Membership, consider whether downgrading to a lower membership tier or switching to occasional Super Thanks payments might be a better way to continue supporting your favorite creator without a fixed monthly commitment. If you cancel and change your mind, you can always rejoin the membership at any time — though your loyalty streak will restart from zero.
